Holding The Fire
Some fires are hotter than others
Some fires never really burn at all
while others go out far too quickly
leaving one grasping at evening shadows
until the memories fade like a summers tear
on a cool crystal goblet
And only when the final streaks have cleared
can a man find solace near the smoldering coals
where if he listens carefully
he may hear the music once again.
